Usually when we win you get a crank on here complaining about something small and irrelevant. Now what's happened if is that credible posters, whose views I rate, are irate at what we are being subjected to.

I was in the company of a Kerryman today and was trying to explain to him why we are aggrieved. We're promoted to Div 1, have played three championship games, and are still standing. What's there to be aggrieved about?

But knowledgable football people in Cavan can see the impact of this period down the line. We're having to play whoever is available, rather than our best players. Furthermore, we are now parking two buses. I counted five times yesterday where there wasn't one Cavan player in the Down half. Fortunately, Down came to fight rather than play football. Their nos 5, 17 & 18 should never be allowed back on a football pitch. Down should hang their heads in shame for losing that game. Eamon Burns was right, they were the better team but even he must admit that they had no discipline. He knew that from the league and did not correct it..

We might draw Leitrim and Fermanagh and reach the super 8 playing this depressing mix of chess and roadblock. However, how can any county board change a manager with his track record of success? Answer, an enlightened county board which sadly we don't have.

We may well survive in Div 1 next year but our proud football tradition may not.

Showed what he had when it came to championship time, say's enough don't you think. No not for me. You say he walked away because he wasn't being listened too I believe that alone tells me he has not got it for the top level ???

Replying To PatTheDandy:  "One of the worst games of football I've ever seen.

Sheer dumb luck, bad refereeing and Down being awful themselves conspired to put us through.

No matter who we get in the draw could beat us based on today.

Absolutely clueless from the management. A club player would have the fitness levels to play a full game in the system were playing given the lack of ground to be covered. But somehow our best player in Cian Mackey is deemed not fit enough to start the games.

Caomhin Reilly dropped as well when he is our main inside scoring threat. Unexplainable. And a spot has also managed to have been found for in form and high scoring McVeety to become ineffective now on top of everything else as well..

Gross incompetence on the line regardless of whether we lack top quality players.

Get a manager in who is up to the job."
According to Des Cahill on Sunday Game this was a highly entertaining game of football...Tomas O'Se maintained there were some great scores.....so maybe you're being too hard on your team.

By the way if I were Gearoid McKiernan I'd be worried after seeing that melee on TV at end of the game. McKiernan definitely kicked things off ....not once but twice with the aid of a second Cavan player who I couldn't make out. His team had just won the game & he goes and does that...stupid !

This current team will not survive in Division 1 next season and don't be surprised to see them even go down again the following year. If we continue with the current management and players we are doomed. I hope they draw one of the top remaining teams if they were to draw Fermanagh they probably would beat them for it will be hard for Fermanagh to recover after today and even Leitrim just prolonging the agony. Lets get Monaghan Tyrone or Mayo to finish it.

What did Gearoid do that's a suspension? Didn't throw one box. That first player in was McVeety who was sent of so keep enlightening us with your knowledge.

If you're on about Finbar and Lacken in championship they were very unlucky. Went out after a replay to Castlerahan in an unbelievable battle where both teams were out on their feet at end.

Yes I agree it's time the full CCB were changed along with the coaching staff. The manager has been talked about plenty times on here but the whole lot of them are a total waste of space. Clear the ship change all the sub committees from the fixtures down to the youth board bring in new faces that have Cavan at heart. If the clubs have no back bone the county will fall apart and it will not be long until we will be like the small counties in football."
Best of luck with that. Have you seen how hard it is to get volunteers. Get your club to nominate you and you will get elected. At club and county level it's always the same people because they're the only ones willing to do it.

Folks I have never seen as bad in ALL my years following this bunch of players. In my opinion the fault has to lie with the management. Down went down to 13 players for about 2-3 minutes just before half time and Cavan continued to keep 15 players in their own half, I was sat close to the Cavan dug out and could clearly hear their instructions and it was as negative as I've ever seen. Has anyone Malachy O'Rourkes number handy?

We would have to get through round 3 first before we could draw Fermanagh as they are straight through to round 4. Also If Monaghan couldn't beat Fermanagh, what makes you think that we would beat them. At this moment I believe the only team we could beat is Leitrim and who knows what the repercussions of the stupid melee at the end might be.

Ok so that's it over for another year. Tyrone it is. They will beat us by 15 - 20 points.

That's it now. The 2nd championship embarrassment we are due will be dissed out to us by Tyrone next weekend. Could do with out losing McVeety but I don't think that will make a huge difference. Can definitely do without Moynagh. McKiernan would be the biggest loss but I think he will escape suspension despite being the cause of the row for pointless taunting of a player who had just lost a tough match playing for an unlucky and better team.

ok...please dont start posting "we could win if..."
face up to it ... we are probably the weakest team left ... yes Laois, fermanagh, Clare etc are better
I always said ..objective was to get out with dignity.... ie loose to someone average by 2 or 4 .
but now its a floggin

On the positive side of things McGleenan will surely have to me moved on. There's a 15 point hammering on the way next weekend, and after that the people in the CB will have to look at his tenure and draw the following conclusions.

Two years in the job.

Got us relegated and then promoted back to Div 1. So no progress on that front, he has us exactly where he found us when he took over.

Championship. No wins in the Ulster championship. Beat offaly, wicklow, and Down. Beaten at home by Tipp in a round two qualifier I. 2017. My prediction is we will take an unmerciful hammering against Tyrone next weekend.

All in all, he hasn't made progress.

But the most worrying aspect of all this is that we have lost so many of our best players through non commitment under his tenure.

We need a man in charge to get all our players back!

Well without doubt it is a good draw, Let's find out exactly where we stand. If the players have anything in them, bearing in mind the performance at the weekend, then they will show up and give it a rattle.

What a sad day for 2 great traditional footballing counties with obsessive fans only wanting the best for their teams. Both sets of fans looking as bemused as each other praying that there would be no extra time. What are we watching and what are we paying in to see? The worst spectacle of any kind at any level I have ever witnessed. I love defensive tactics and systems - I find them fascinating. This is no system - everybody behind the ball with no transition. Anyone can come up with that.

The county board must be starting to think now - what are they paying their management team to do? The league was a farce - we did not deserve to be promoted. Our best players are bypassed and stifled and some are sitting at home. Our Ulster championship performances under this management team have been embarrassing. It is sad to think that a right hammering from Tyrone on Saturday may not prove enough to persuade the county board that Mattie is no t the man for this team and unfortunately a ridiculously luck league campaign may prove over-bearing. Not wanted in Tyrone - Not wanted in Cavan. Time for an exit both on and off the pitch.

He hasn't made any progress in the league.

We were a division 1 team when he took over. We were relegated under him, then promoted under him.

It's the exact same scenario as two years ago, so no progress has been made there.

I really don't see how it could be justified keeping him based on the league. You're correct in that we were lucky to go up, the only reason we got over the line vs Tipp was because they had 14 men for most of the second half.

Haven't posted for along time but what I witnessed on Saturday defied belief. Absolutely shocking to see the decline & general malaise that is affecting our county senior team. How can our county both supporters & county board allow this to happen ????
Genuine passionate cavan supporters leaving enniskillen in disgust at that rubbish that we produced. A Down supporter beside me said before the game that it was the worst down team in years, missing 2 key players with injuries prior to the game, lost their 2 best forwards to black cards in the first half, 1 player to a red with approx 20 mins left, their best defender Mooney to injury & gift us a goal and we still struggled & needed a decent Farrelly save at the end to win it!!! Players not having the remotest clue as to what they should be doing apart from the default setting of running back in to our own half & still not being able to tackle or turnover the ball. Change at every level from management to county board has to happen & happen soon after that debacle. And to think that experienced posters on here were calling this manager a messiah..........

You'd have to say that another run out in Enniskillen against Tyrone should have us in good shape for the Super 8's!
