Strange results that changed league table many times today. Maybe have an open draw in future save the nonsense we saw today.

Going by a few of their locals a lot of this was from resting a few that had injuries since they were already through and not about working the league table as someone said here. They should beat Lavey but if they dont have players back they will struggle as they did today. Gaels will be confident after today and I fancy them still"
I heard that Niall Mckeirnan went off injured, was it bad?

Would you say that the gaels were 24 points better than Lacken ????? be honest now for this result has soured what was good about the format but it has shown a weakness when it comes to the 4th stage. I expect Cootehill will not take to kindly to Lacken's performance today and sadly they have made a mockery of what was looking good. I did think the gales would do enough today to take 8th spot but because of their result they finished 6th. I would like to hear from those that have an unbiased opinion to explain why they thought the gaels could hammer a team by 24 points after struggling in their last three matches. Please don't tell me peaking at the right time for this will not wear.

Rested? Why rest a player in a game that's an absolute must?

Ramor with a man sent off after 40 seconds and gowna needed a last min point to win it... i feel like Ramor are sneaking under the radar.

I heard a rumor at the weekend that Givney will line out for Mountnugnet in their semi final against Drumlane. Also Oisin Kiernans brother is back from injury and will be a big addition to them in the forward line.

The Gaels has a 28 pt scoring difference with Cootehill so don't know what your talking about there.
You fail to mention Castlerahans surprise defeat to Ballinagh which would have left them top of the group.
Were they afraid of the Gaels sneaking into 8th place and meeting them????

The format it is in at the minute is unfair in my opinion. To think that a team could play the bottom 4 teams in a division compared to another team who may have to play 4 of the top teams in the division, the score difference will obviously subside the other. Cootehill will feel very hard done by because Lacken must have put out a weakened side to be beating by that much. Either that, or they simply didn't care because they were already through.

I was at that Cootehill game yesterday and what a game it was. Two teams who went for it from the word go. No defensive systems in place. Martin Reilly's free kick taking was exceptional. Plenty of players from both teams impressed massively. The Cootehill midfielder had a whale of a game in the first half.

As for Castlerahan, I think it is very clear to anyone watching senior football this year that they definitely threw that game as they where in danger of getting Cavan Gaels. I don't mean any disrespect to Ballinagh but come on.

Or trying to avoid Ramor. A terrible mentality.

You are right off course but that result effected the top of the table and Ballinagh win or lose were still in the relegation play off.
Another situation Crosserlough V Kingscourt Crosserlough scored a goal at the end but the referee disallowed note the score difference so there is a major problem when it comes to getting to the 1/4 final stages this needs to be addressed big time for it's unfair on those on the borderline this included the Gaels Killyhandra Ramor Kingscourt Cootehill Lavey it puts a bad reflection on what seemed like a good set up but sadly it's not. Shame really.

He went off 3 mins in with what looked like a nasty hamstring injury. Pity as I like the look of him as a player and Lacken dropped the heads as soon as he went off. I can't fault a team for resting players in a game where your already through when a players like that goes off especially if they are carrying knocks and even at full strength Lacken would have found it very tough as the Gaels were well up for it.

As for Castlerahan, one must think even with resting players they could beat a Ballinagh team that couldn't put in a performance all year. If it was a ploy to avoid the Gaels it shows signs of mental weakness already.

There not a lot can be done about teams jostling for position on a table where 8 go through.
Maybe play an extra round and just have a top 4 instead.
That could sort it. 5 games and the top 4 go through to the semis. That might stop the ducking and diving for position .

Yes I understand there is not a lot can be done about it but your idea of five games and the top 4 go to the simi's it would for sure put an end to what happened this weekend 100%. How are we fixed next year how many senior teams will we have or is the plan to have 12 senior teams going forward if yes well your idea carries a lot weight.

The "goal" that Crosserlough scored at the end of the Kingscourt game was not a goal as the referee had the final whistle blown long before the ball ended up in the net and the defence had stopped playing. Anyway it didn't affect the table one bit as the positions would be the exact same anyway

Hold your horses Columbo, why would they bother going 7 points up if that was the plan? And surely they've a better chance of toppling the gaels in Crosskeys in a quarter than Breffni in the final? Also, no one could know where the gaels were going to finish anyway, they could easily have finished 7th and be playing castlerahan.

Off course it did effect a team look at the table ??? Then off course you could say the brilliant goal Ramor scored that was disallowed by McQuillan a few weeks back all if's and but's I suppose. Anyway it is what it is there is nothing anyone could do about it.

Too many conspiracy theories on here, if Castlerahan had a person following the Gaels game they would have known from early on that the Gaels were on course for a big win and would finish further up the table than 8th, also if Gowna had beaten Ramor, a game which went to the wire, then there was the possibility of a Castlerahan/Gaels QF.As it is the Gaels are our county champions and are not going to relinquish their title without a fight they knew what they had to do against Lacken, it may have helped their cause with McKiernan getting injured early on and Lacken not wanting to risk more injuries as they had already qualified.
If you have ambitions of winning the championship this year the chances are you may have to beat the Gaels on the way to achieve that goal
Cootehill while they may feel aggrieved have only themselves to blame, after all they had a similar run as the Gaels & Ramor who also finished on 4 points, all 3 played Castlerahan, Lacken & Killygarry whilst Cootehill played Crosserlough the other two played Gowna. Unfortunately for Cootehill ,with 2 wins, they just didn't do enough in the scoring stakes .
