A back injury is threatening Patrick Campbell's participation in Cork's All-Ireland MFC final against Galway on September 1.

The Nemo Rangers attacker scored 1-2 before being forced off with a back spasm 10 minutes from the end of Saturday's semi-final win over Mayo.

“I’m hoping it’s not too serious. We’ll just give him some time and see how it is," Cork manager Bobbie O'Dwyer told the Echo newspaper.

“It’s something that just happened during the course of the game after getting a knock. Obviously, you’re always concerned with a back injury because that influences so many other muscles in the body."

Coming on the back of Cork's All-Ireland U20FC success, O'Dwyer acknowledged that qualifying for the minor final is another boost for football in the Rebel County.

"The U20s were superb for Cork football. Their win gave us, and us being the county, an air of confidence. When you have confidence and you get a bit of momentum, it carries everybody along," he added.
