Sexton wary of Rossies' backlash

Clare forward Keelan Sexton believes they will be facing a Roscommon side seething at how their FL2 campaign has gone so far on Sunday afternoon.

Surprisingly, the Rossies lie bottom of the FL2 table after two rounds of the league campaign, even though they are one of the sides tipped for promotion.

However, they are still very much in the race for a place in the top two as only two points separate top and bottom in the division.

Clare are on two points following their equally surprising win over Kildare last weekend and they head to Dr Hyde Park in a confident mood.

Nonetheless, Sexton told the Clare Champion that Roscommon will be like a wounded animal come Sunday afternoon as they look to pick up their first win of the campaign.

“You’d love to be going up there playing them after they had two wins in the bag, as opposed to the position they’re in now,” said Sexton.

“They’re a quality side and were six points up in two games this season and they are probably really annoyed with themselves.

“From our point of view, we just have to take it as another two points. Going up there is going to be a really hard task and I think we have played them a few times over the years and I can tell you that they are a quality outfit. We’ll be focused on getting our ship right.”
