Clare football manager Colm Collins has paid tribute to the late Michael O'Shea, describing him as "a real leader".

Tributes have poured in since the 37-year-old's sad passing on Tuesday and Collins, who coached the St Senan's Kilkee forward towards the end of his playing career, was stunned to learn the news.

"It's a great shock," the Banner boss told RTÉ Sport. "He was a real leader and a stand-up guy. And above all else, he was extremely popular in the dressing room, which is not always the case with those other traits.

"Sometimes leaders can stand on people's toes, but not Michael."

He added: "You would find it almost impossible to find someone who had a bad word to say about him. I know when people die you often hear that, but it is very true in this case."
