Eoghan Rua Coleraine (Derry) 2-11

Castlerahan (Cavan) 0-11

A brace of first half goals from Colm McGoldrick, coupled with a strong finish, helped Eoghan Rua, Coleraine to an Ulster club SFC quarter-final victory over Castlerahan in Kingscourt.

The Derry champions led by 2-6 to 0-6 at the interval, but despite having lost midfielder David Wright to a second yellow card late in the first half, first-time Cavan winners Castlerahan showed great character to battle back to within a point before the visitors scored five unanswered points in the closing stages to advance to a semi-final meeting with Scotstown.

The sides were level before Castlerahan's star wing back Enda Flanagan went off injured. They then lost centre back Cormac Daly to a black card and Wright to a second yellow and Coleraine took full advantage with quick-fire goals from McGoldrick.

The home side suffered another blow after the restart when full back Fergal Reilly also retired injured, but they refused to give up the ghost and roared back with scores from Oisin O'Connell, Shane McSweeney, Sean Brady and Pauric Smith to leave the minimum in it with eight minutes remaining.

However, Coleraine managed to weather the storm and closed out the game with a late run of scores from Ciaran McGoldrick, substitute Mark McTaggart, Liam McGoldrick and Ciaran Mullan.
