Fast pace was too much for Bonnar's Carlow

Colm Bonnar admitted that Carlow couldn't cope with the level of intensity Kilkenny brought to yesterday's Leinster SHC clash at Netwatch Cullen Park.

Colin Fennelly had the ball in the net inside 20 seconds and Ger Aylward added another eight minutes later as the Cats laid the foundations for a routine 3-22 to 1-14 victory.

"We really struggled with the pace of the game in the first 20 minutes," the Carlow manager said.

"The start they got, 30 seconds in and they had a goal and another soon enough. That's what Kilkenny do, they dominate you for maybe 10 minutes and that's the difference between this and the Joe McDonagh Cup in that they can put away a big score.

"Credit to Kilkenny, their intensity levels and physicality were lessons for us. It's a learning curve for us."
