Dublin senior camogie manager David Herity has resigned his post after two seasons in charge. 

The former Kilkenny goalkeeper, who won five All-Ireland titles in the famous black and amber, confirmed the news tonight via his Twitter account and thanked all involved in the set-up, adding that he was grateful for the opportunity. 

Last season saw Herity steering Dublin to a first All-Ireland senior semi-final since 1990 but this year ended in disappointment for the team after they lost out to Galway by 16 points at the quarter-final stage.

The statement he released on social media read as follows: "I would sincerely like to thank the Dublin clubs and management team for supporting and encouraging me in my role as manager.

"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with this exceptional group of players who have, from the moment I was appointed, worked so hard and shown dedication, energy and enthusiasm.

"The future of Dublin camogie is considerably bright. It has been my great honour to contribute to the development of this wonderful group of players, who are bound for even greater glories in years to come."
