As if a life-sized bronze statue and a park across the way wasn't enough to honour the man, the Villa Maria in Mick O'Dwyer's home village of Waterville has dedicated its B&B rooms and Bar and Restaurant facilities to the GAA legend himself...
The Villa Maria, which was formerly owned and run by O'Dwyer, has twelve B&B rooms (numbered 1959, 1962, 1969, 1970, 1975, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1984, 1985 and 1986!) - that's one for every one of his All-Ireland wins as both Kerry player and manager. The walls of the halls and Bar and Restaurant rooms are also adorned with timeless photographs and memorabilia of Kerry GAA's golden years.
So, now you know where to book your next holiday in the beautiful Kingdom!
The Villa Maria bar/B+B in Waterville. Micko’s old bar. Now dedicated to the man himself. It’s class. 12 rooms...one for every all Ireland won. All GAA fans would love it 😉For the couple of weeks that’s in it... #KerryDublin #5inarow @SeaLodgeHotel pic.twitter.com/pe1bYDtq2O
