Kieran McGeeney declared himself "very happy" with Armagh's 0-16 to 0-10 victory over his former Kildare charges at the Athletic Grounds last night.

The Orchard County bounced back from last weekend's surprise defeat to Laois to register their second win in Division 2, despite playing almost the entire second half with 14 men after Jamie Clarke picked up a second yellow card.

“It was a great display, I was very happy with it, especially against the breeze," the Armagh manager told the Irish Examiner.

“I didn't think we did enough with it in the first half, but they dug deep and got some great scores for us.

“I know the majority of that Kildare team well and most of them played well tonight like Kevin Feely, Daniel Flynn and the two Cribbins, Peter Kelly. I don't get great joy in it, but again it's Armagh night and fair play to them.”
