Armagh’s Charlie Vernon is adamant that they must at least retain their NFL Division 2 status and push on for promotion.

Vernon is one of the veteran’s of the current Armagh squad and having had a decent enough year in 2018, the versatile player is keen for them to push on to the next level.

Promotion in the league and a decent run in the qualifiers was the outcome of this year’s campaign for the Orchard County.

Speaking to the Ulster Herald, he stressed that now is not the time for them to be resting on their laurels.

"Yes, ideally we would want to be at least staying in Division Two at the very least if not pushing on out of it," stressed Vernon. "If Armagh are to grow and get better that has to be their aim."

"The feedback from all sides has indeed been most encouraging and this gives us a big lift going forward."
