Wexford intermediate 'A' champions Tara Rocks recorded one of the biggest ever wins in the provincial club hurling championship at Enniscorthy today.

Managed by 1996 All-Ireland winner and Mayor of Wexford Garry Laffan, the Rocks ran out winners on an incredible scoreline of 10-35 to 0-4 against Wicklow intermediate title holders Arklow Rock Parnell in their Leinster club JHC opening round clash. A whopping 61 points separated the two Rocks at the full-time whistle as Laffan's charges advance to a quarter-final meeting with Clanna Gael Fontenoy of Dublin in seven days' time.

St Oliver Plunkett's of Westmeath have also made it through to the quarter-final stage where they will face Kilkenny's Mooncoin after a hard-earned 2-15 to 1-16 win over St Fechin's (Louth) at Dowdallshill. Laois' Trumera defeated Longford Slashers 1-16 to 0-11 last weekend to book their last-eight ticket.

In the Leinster club IHC first round, Wicklow kingpins Bray Emmets beat Naomh Brid of Carlow by 0-18 to 0-8 at Aughrim, while Ballinakill (Laois) did just enough to see off Westmeath counterparts Cullion at TEG Cusack Park, 3-12 to 3-11.

Meanwhile, in the Connacht club JHC semi-final, back-to-back Sligo champions Easkey created history when they won their first ever provincial hurling championship match after overcoming Leitrim's Cluainin Iomaint at Ballinamore, 2-15 to 1-15. The Sea Blues will face Salthill-Knocknacarra in the decider on December 4.
