Liam Murphy posted 0-10 as Dublin defeated Wexford to set up a Leinster U20HC final showdown with Galway in the New Year.
It finished 1-19 to 1-10 in favour of Paul O'Brien's charges this evening at Netwatch Cullen Park, where goalkeeper Eddie Gibbons fired 1-2 for the winners. The Kilmacud Crokes netminder's goal on 41 minutes came from one of his long-range frees which dropped short into the Wexford net.
Wexford trailed by just two points at half-time, 0-8 to 0-6 having led by 0-4 to 0-3 at the first water-break after points from Ross Banville (2), Conor Mahoney and David Codd. However, with Murphy on song, the Dubs chalked up 1-5 without reply within 12 minutes of the resumption to surge clear, 1-13 to 0-7.
Substitute Glen Murphy-Butler grabbed a goal back for Wexford on 53 minutes as they cut the deficit to five points (1-15 to 1-10). But Dublin held firm, with late points from Gibbons, Liam Dunne, Padhraic Linehan and that man Murphy to ease their way into the decider on January 3.
