Club Membership

Club membership for 2021 is now being collected. Our membership rates for this year have been amended and simplified to take into account likely ongoing restrictions on access to club facilities for much of the year. However your club membership subscriptions are a vital source of club income that facilitates team affiliations, insurance and more. Full club membership is set at €30 with social membership set at €20. Please contact any committee member or our club registrar, Darren Rigney, to renew your membership.

Juvenile Training

Preparations are underway to oversee the safe return of underage training over the coming weeks. We are all hopeful that things will continue to go to plan and that we will see our young players return to the training fields towards the end of the month. Further details will be announced over the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, we hope all our young players are out in their lawns and fields getting some practise in!

Minella Times

Well done to our own Cathal Ennis who bred Saturday’s Grand National winner Minella Times. Trained by Henry de Bromhead and owned by JP McManus, Minella Times was ridden to the momentous victory by Rachael Blackmore, the first ever female winner of the Aintree showpiece. Cathal bred Minella Times from his own base in Quill Farm and sold the horse as a foal to John Nallen at the Tattersalls foal sales in November 2013. Anyone who knows Cathal will know that he has spent a lifetime chasing a dream of breeding a horse like Minella Times and we’d like to congratulate him on his magnificent achievement.

Sympathy

We extend our deepest sympathy to the Baker family, New Forest, on the sad passing of Noel Baker. There was also sad news for Westmeath Gaels in the last week when we heard of the passing of Ned Flynn, Finea, who was known far and wide in GAA circles. We extend our deepest sympathy to his family and friends. May they Rest in Peace.

New Arrival

Congratulations to Alan and Aisling Warde on the arrival of baby Taidgh last week.

Green Kilometre Scheme

This scheme was recently launched and it invites individuals and groups in rural areas to become involved in looking after their own locality. With the unfortunate increase in litter being dumped along our country roads, this scheme encourages and facilitates local people to look after sections of their roadways. To assist participants in the scheme, clean-up kits that include litter pickers, hi vis vests, bags and gloves are available and can be requested on registration. For more information email [email protected] or phone 044 933 2125.

Timber for Sale

A large quantity of timber for sale in full or in lots. Please contact 086 8093180 or 086 8318124 for further details.

Club Notes

If anyone has any notes or news that they would like to have included in our weekly notes, then please message us on our Facebook page, email us at [email protected] or text 086 8318124 with the details.
