Minor Hurling

Westmeath finished in dramatic fashion to win the first round of the minor championship against Carlow. They scored 1-3 in the final five minutes, without reply, to pip Carlow on a 1-14 to 1-13 score-line. Southern Gaels were represented by Cian Mc Carthy, Chulainn Dowd and Cian Gaery. Well done to the team and mentors on their hard-earned victory.

 

Under 15

It is still unclear if there will be a return to club competitions. The Under 15 side are continuing to train as they are in the Division 2 semi-final. Hopefully all competitions will get played before the end of the year.

 

Training

All other training has finished for the year. Thank you to all players, mentors and parents/guardians for the great effort they put in to ensure there was great enjoyment during the last few months. It was good that there were so many training sessions organised and matches played since mid-July.  The Under 17 and Under 13 championship wins were highlights but the participation and excitement generated at all levels since the summer has made the return to some level of play well worth the effort.
