Strabane Sigersons club notes

October 21, 2020

Páirc Mhíc Sioghar;

We do not like having to come on social media or approach the press, however, tonight after vandalism and anti-social behaviour around the club grounds we, the Sigersons Committee feel like we have no other option.

We provide some of the best facilities in Ulster, maybe even Ireland for Gaelic Games for the people of Strabane and surrounding areas.

To see our facilities treated the way they have been by a very small minority of our young people is extremely disappointing and frustrating.

This week we have seen glass bottles smashed on our playing surfaces, damage around the clubhouse and to electricity ports.

This electricity port was destroyed and now has to be replaced.

The problem with this type of damage is the risk of serious injury or worse to users of our facilities.

Last year we installed CCTV and we have captured many of the incidents. As a club we do not want to take this any further.

We love seeing young people making use of our facilities. This is what the GAA is all about. We would like to have every child in Strabane at our grounds and taking part in Gaelic Games!

Please ensure your child knows the severity of these incidents and the danger that tampering with electrical ports could do. We don't want to have to close our gates over this vandalism but if it continues we will be left with no option.

Tyrone Representation;

Tori McLaughlin was on the Tyrone Ladies side at the weekend in the Ulster Championship semi-final as they lost out to Armagh.

Best wishes to Oran McGrath and Eoin Barkley this weekend as they are part of the Tyrone Minor Squad to face Donegal in the opening round of the Ulster Championship.

Congratulations;

A massive well done to Sigersons coach Ann-Marie McGlynn on Sunday at the World Half-Marathon who achieved a personal best.

Best Wishes;

Everyone at Strabane Sigersons would like to wish club player Eimear Love a speedy recovery after sustaining a broken ankle injury.

Johnny Curran RIP;

Everyone at Strabane Sigersons would like to offer our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of former Coalisland and Tyrone Goalkeeper, Johnny Curran. Our thoughts and prayers are with all connected and his former teammates.
