The grief-stricken Queen's University Belfast Fresher football team did their much-missed team-mate Fionntan McGarvey proud last night by beating UU in the championship.
On a difficult day for the team, and especially for Fionntan's best friend Ronan Boyle, Queen's prevailed on a 1-10 to 1-7 scoreline. A talented GAA player with St Brigid's GAC and Queen's, Fionntan was laid to rest earlier in the day after he passed away last Thursday from injuries sustained in an assault on Finaghy Road North in Belfast in the early hours of December 27.
The PSNI have launched a murder investigation into the 18-year-old's death.
This one was for you Fionntan. @QueensGAA you did him so proud. But @ronanboyle114 you did him prouder. ❤️🐠 pic.twitter.com/AuI2KySfJb
