Unbelievable" was the only word man-of-the-match Darren McCurry could find to describe the feeling of winning the All-Ireland SFC final with Tyrone.
The Edendork clubman has been a revelation for the Red Hands under joint-managers Brian Dooher and Feargal Logan, capping off an incredible season with 1-4, 1-2 of which came from play, in this evening's five-point success over Mayo at Croke Park.
“When I left [the squad] in 2018, I just had to get myself back to my best, back to Dazzler,” McCurry said on the RTÉ Sunday Game Live afterwards.
"I think I did it, and I think I showed that out there today. I’m back enjoying my football and it’s just an unbelievable feeling here on All-Ireland final day, taking it all in."
The corner-forward paid an emotional tribute to his late mother Eileen, who passed away when he was 13.
"I’m sure she’s looking down on me today, a happy mother."
"Tyrone, we did it. We’re back!"
