Padraig Pearses are the new Roscommon SFC title-holders after downing Clann na nGael by 2-8 to 0-11 in an entertaining county final at Dr Hyde Park.

A brace of second-half goals from Paul Carey (1-3) and substitute Jack Tumulty helped propel Pat Flanagan's men to their second ever Fahey Cup success this afternoon.

Appearing in the decider for a third successive year, having surrendered their crown to St Brigid's last time, points from Niall Daly and Hubert Darcy helped ease the would-be champions into a 0-3 to 0-0 lead.

21-time winners Clann na nGael hit back though and a string of Ciaran Lennon points saw just one separate the sides, 0-4 to 0-3, at the interval.

With full-forward Lennon prominent on the frees and Cathal Duignan splitting the posts superbly for Clann, the sides were tied at 0-5 apiece just five minutes after the resumption when Carey's opening goal turned the game in Pearses' favour.

Further scores by Hubert Darcy and Carey extended the advantage to five at the second water-break (1-8 to 0-6) before Clann battled back to narrow the gap to two on 55 minutes but the comeback was foiled by Tumulty's palmed effort moments later.
