Clann na nGael will face Padraig Pearses in the Roscommon senior football championship final after overcoming Roscommon Gaels by 0-14 to 0-10 at Dr Hyde Park this evening.

The 2018 champions regained their early lead in the run up to half-time and never relinquished it from there with Ciaran Lennon and Ian Harney very much to the fore.

Peter Gillooly’s point had edged Roscommon Gaels 0-5 to 0-4 ahead after the first water break prior to scores from Cian McManus and Harney swinging the would-be winners back in front.

Lennon’s fine point made it 0-8 to 0-6 come the half-time whistle and Harney and Jack Connaughton sailed points early in the restart to stamp further authority on this semi-final for Clann na nGael.

Gillooly and Daire McCormack (45) got points on the board that narrowed the difference down to one for the Gaels but that would as good as it got for them.

The second water break would see Clann na nGael 0-10 to 0-8 in front and a brace from Lennon along with a point from Ultan Harney in injury-time ensured a final date against the runners up of last year’s competition whom dethroned St Brigid's yesterday.
