Tullamore football manager Niall Stack wants Saturday’s Offaly SHC ‘B’ final postponed to allow his team to prepare properly for their Leinster club SFC first round clash with Naas the following day.

Stack feels it would be unfair to expect Tullamore’s sizeable contingent of dual players to play two big games in the space of 24 hours and believes there is more wiggle room for the hurling final against Clodiagh Gaels to be put back. 

“We literally have had no break. The U20 championship was unnecessarily played if I’m honest,” he said of Tullamore’s recent hectic schedule across both codes after yesterday’s SFC final replay victory over Rhode.

“We now have to contend with a hurling final on Saturday and we’re playing Sunday. The county board are going to have to look at that, Leinster Council are going to have to look at that.

“I don’t think there is a rush on the hurling. I don’t think the first round of the Leinster (intermediate) hurling championship is until December. Do the county board want us to represent Offaly as best we can?

“I think if they do, they’re going to have to look at that fixture.”
