U17: The U17 team produced another " Lazarus " finish on Sunday morning last when they defeated Rock Sarsfields to emerge victorious to win the Div 3 Shield Championship by 4-7 to 1-12. This was a game where they trailed their opponents until the last few minutes of the match where a goal bust of 3-1 in 3 minutes proving decisive.

In the first half playing with the aid of the wind the scores were level at the break 0-4 each our scores coming from Conor Boyle, Killian Carragher, Ben Mc Cabe & Barry Duffy with a couple of these scores coming after heavy hits on our young players I.e. Christopher Geoghegan and Bobby Mc Caul but it must be said credit has to go to our goalkeeper Kevin Mc Cahey who made 3 brilliant saves to keep us in the game. In the second half Rock Sarsfields went into the lead with some fine scores and we were also dealt a major blow with the sending off of Simon Geoghegan an decision which baffled everyone. However it could have been  a lot worse except for some great defensive duties by Oran Mc Ardle, Jonathan Wacks, Ryan Hamilton, David Sheridan and Oisin Traynor and at the 2nd Water break the boys were 0-10 to 0-5 in arrears and they went further behind with a goal and all seemed over. However that wasn't the end of the story, a double goal bust by Bobby Mc Caul took it back to 1 and momentum had definitely swung our way and then remarkably a run by midfielder ben Mc cabe through the middle he took a rasper of a shot and another goal to leave us in front and in the final attack up the field Killian Carragher passed the ball into Cillian Traynor who palmed into the net and the boys held out for victory.

This was a great victory and credit to the team and management of Declan Mc Geough, PJ Forde, Chris Forde & Colm Mc Geough

Team Kevin Mc Cahey, Oran Mc Ardle, Jonathan Wacks, Oisin Traynor (0-1), Ryan Hamilton, David Sheridan, Simon Geoghegan, Ben Mc Cabe(1-1), Killian Carragher(0-1), Conor Boyle(c) (0-2), Bobby Mc Caul (2-0), Barry Duffy (0-2), Christopher Geoghegan  Subs Cillian Traynor(1-0) for Christopher Geoghegan

Other subs Conaill Savage, Joshua Bannigan, Luke Johnston, Mark Phillips, Justin Geoghegan, Dylan Mc Mahon, Callum Hughes & Thomas Hamill.

On another note to this team best wishes to 2 lads who got injured leading up to this final. Conaill Savage and Joshua Bannigan and we hope to see both lads back on the field soon again

Reserves: The Reserves played Ballybay last Sunday in the O Duffy Cup on Sunday last and were defeated by 2-12 to 1-10. Missing a few players the lads trailed by 11 at half time by 2-8 to 0-3 but credit to them they came back well and in the end only a few scores was the difference. Next game is on Sunday 27th September away to Eire Og.

U15: The U15 Semi final against Latton is now on Saturday 26th September in Aughnamullen more details in next week's issue.

U13: The U13 team captured the Div 2 Shield trophy on Saturday last when they defeated Oram on a score line of 2-13 to 2-6 in Cremartin.

This was a great performance against the gallant Oram side with the boys outstanding in every line on the field. In the first half the boys got of to a flying start with a Conor Connolly brace of goals (maybe he inherited his attacking flair from his father Mickey who was a fine juvenile in his day) and this was followed up by further points by Patrick Lambe(4) something he definitely didn't take after his father Philip & Joint team Capt Cormac Mc Nally and Aughnamullen led by 5 at the break 2-5 to 0-6.

In the second half Oram had their purple patch at the start of the second half and with 10 minutes to go only 1 separated the sides 2-7 to 2-6 but Aughnamullen finished strongly with scores by Patrick Lambe, Phil Mc Caul, Luke Gilliland(2), Ben Mc Geough to win by 7 to the rapturous cheers of the crowd. This was a complete performance with Conor Mc Keown in goals full back line of James Mc Cahey and Emmett Garrivan ably assisted by Joint team captains of Cormac Mc Nally & Caolan Daly and the lively Thomas Lambe in the half back line, the strong midfield partnership of Sean Murtagh and Shane Geoghegan and the forward line of the Mulligan cousins Luke & Conor, Matt Mc Nally and the full forward line of Patrick Lambe and Conor Connolly. The subs who came on made a fantastic contribution I.e. Phil Mc Caul, Luke Gilliland and Ben Mc Geough Well done to all players and management of James & Philip Lambe,  Tom Garrivan & Brian Mc Ardle.

The Division 6 final is this Sunday against Magheracloone time and venue to be decided. With spectator restrictions being lifted please support if you can.
