Congress: All-Ireland junior football championship restored

February 27, 2021

The All-Ireland junior football championship is back.

The All-Ireland junior football championship has been restored after a motion was passed at Congress this afternoon.

The competition will involve a native New York, Kilkenny, and the winners and runners-up of the British junior championship in the semi-finals.

The semi-finals of the All-Ireland U20 hurling championship have been scrapped, with the provincial winners qualifying directly for the final.

Congress also passed a ruling that prevents senior hurlers lining out with U20 county teams, similar to the one in football.

Meanwhile, deadline dates were put forward for the completion of Post Primary School GAA competitions (March 17), Fitzgibbon Cup (eighth Sunday of the year), and Sigerson Cup (seventh Sunday of the year).
