Dromard Club Notes for issue dated Friday 29th of January 2021

Sympathy: Dromard GAA extends its sympathy to the Mulligan family on the death of Winnie Mulligan, Cornakelly and to the Brady family on the death of Gerard Brady, Dublin, brother of Kathleen Conefrey, Cammagh. The Club offers its condolences to the Gilchrist family on the death of John Gilchrist, Longford Town. John was a highly respected teacher in Moyne CS for many years and he will be fondly remembered by his former students in the parish and beyond.  Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.

Message to the Community on COVID-19: With the resurgence of the virus, we hope that all our members, players and supporters are keeping well and minding yourselves and your families. Dromard GAA club would like to offer their support to anyone in the community who needs help with collecting prescriptions, groceries or any other essential items during this difficult time. All you need to do is contact Club Chairman Gerry Sheridan on 087 2394962 and we would be more than happy to help.

Walking Track: Its great to see our new walking track being used extensively. In the interests of health and safety, we ask all those using the track to walk in an anti-clockwise direction. Please be aware that the lights on the walkway turn off at 10pm each night. You are also asked to please remember when using the walking track to keep your dogs on a leash and clean up dog litter. Bicycles are not allowed on the track and ask your children not to take their bikes on the track. A donations box has been installed on the new walkway for anyone who would like to make a contribution towards the lighting costs and ongoing maintenance of the track. Thank you.

Masses: In line with the HSE guidelines, Masses have reverted to online services only until further notice. Masses with our Parish Priest Fr. Pat Lennon can be viewed live from St. Francis Xavier Church Moyne on Wednesday and Saturday evenings at 7pm and from St. Mary’s Church Legga on Friday evenings at 7pm and Sundays at 11am. The website address to view the Mass from Moyne church is churchtv.ie/moyne and for Legga the address is churchtv.ie/legga Fr Pat would like to remind you that anniversary Masses can be booked for Saturdays and Sundays. The weekly Church Newsletter can be collected from Corrigans, Gortermone Stores or Moyne Stores and from both churches, which remain open during the day for private prayer. Please take every measure that you can to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Irish Life's MyLife's 4000km Challenge: The club is taking part in the Irish Life's MyLife's 4000km Challenge. We are delighted to launch MyLife's second challenge in partnership with the GAA Community and Health department Every Step Counts. This challenge is in support of clubs and community members taking part in Ireland Lights Up 2021. We are asking you and your club mates to track a collective 4,000km over 7 weeks (that's roughly the distance around Ireland!) between 13th January - 3rd March to be entered into our prize draw.
