Honorary President of the Killeedy GAA Club:

Killeedy GAA are looking forward to the return to play at underage on 26 April . At a recent club meeting, Fr. Tom Shanahan was appointed as Honorary President of the Killeedy GAA Club. Fr. Tom distinguished himself as an outstanding hurler at underage with Killeedy before joining the Seminary. Fr Tom is a proud Killeedy man with a great love for his home place and the GAA. Fr Tom will start the year for Killeedy GAA with a mass which will be broadcast online on Sunday, 18 April at 11am . Further details on how to log in to the club mass will be provided next week.

Club Limerick Draw 2021

The next Club Limerick Draw takes place on Saturday April 24th with another jackpot prize of €10,000 & a host of cash prizes up for grabs including an Exclusive Star Prize of a Weber Spirit II E 320 GBS Gas Barbecue plus €250 worth of free utensils. This will be the second of ten monthly draws which will run until December.

 

The Club Limerick Draw is one of our main fundraisers with 50% of the entrant fee returned to our own club. We strongly urge all club members to support this vital fundraiser & with such a wonderful selection of Exclusive Prizes on offer hopefully your luck is in for 2021.

Con & Annie Kirby Memorial Stakes 2021

The 2nd round of the Con & Annie Kirby Memorial Stakes took place last Saturday night in the Limerick Greyhound Stadium. Once more our nominated greyhound Singalong Sally qualified by coming home in 2nd place. Next weekend are the quarter finals with 24 greyhounds still in the running. Singalong Sally will run from Trap 1 again next Saturday, fingers crossed she can produce another top three finish to progress to the semi-finals. Updates on his progress can be followed on our club WhatsApp & on social media, there is also an option to watch all Races live from home via Talking Dogs TV for a small subscription of €10 from 7pm to 10pm. Sponsored by JP McManus & family, this annual event is welcomed by all Limerick clubs with a €20,000 prize-fund on offer including €10,000 for the winning club.

 

Registration for Players & Social Members for 2021

Hopefully we will all be able to return to the training pitch soon. With this in mind, the GAA requests that all members are registered for the season ahead. The registration process will be completed online this year. The Return to Play on our phones that we all became so familiar with last year is now known as Foireann. Foireann has many features, one of which includes registration of members. Please follow the instructions as shared with all the parents through the various forums.

Mental Health Questionnaire 

The GAA and its official mental health partner Samaritans are conducting a short questionnaire to gather some information on what mental health activities have been rolled out in Healthy Clubs and to see what other supports our Healthy Clubs would like in the area of mental health and emotional wellbeing. Support for Grieving 

The Irish Hospice Foundation have developed a free bereavement resource pack is for anyone grieving in these very difficult times. It includes advice on coping with grief, funerals in exceptional times and supporting children/young people. Virtual Life Skills Programme 

Aware are now offering their Life Skills programme a virtual group setting, using Zoom. Based on the principles of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), the Life Skills programme is designed to help people learn more about how we think and how this can influence our actions in helpful or unhelpful ways. The Life Skills Group Programme is delivered over the course of six weeks in 90 minute evening sessions. With the help of a series of easy-to-follow booklets and expert guidance from a trained facilitator at each session, you can learn how to better manage the stress of everyday life, recognise and manage unhelpful thoughts, learn new ways of thinking and ultimately begin the journey to a healthier and more confident life.
