3 points from placed balls late in second half by Galway. They were just out of it.

Mayo have form for tunnel brawls and it seems to work for them. Galway had such a bad second half. Congrats to Mayo. Could this be their year?

Two poor teams. Sean Kelly going off damaged Galway specially when Oshea went full forward. Reminded me of the monaghan game Galway collapsed be it fitness or mentally. Joyce made some awful subs

Commiserations to Galway. I was worried at halftime that Mayo were about to have a real off-day with Galway in a such strong position. Once Mayo upped the tempo Galway started to struggle. Another great performance by Mattie Ruane and once Galway's midfield were curbed as an outlet Gleeson was stumped. Terrific work rate to put on the squeeze and much better forward play than the first half, including the disallowed goal which I thought was fair enough otherwise half of Con O'Callaghan's goals should be chalked off for engaging the back as the ball is coming in. Thankfully it wasn't needed. Mayo definitely needed a test against a Div 1 side and hopefully they won't make such a sluggish start in the semi-final, especially at the back which really upped their performance after halftime and gave Galway's forwards very little space. The ultimate test awaits (sorry Kildare, as well as Meath did I just can't see it)! Pericles (Mayo) - Posts: 2521 - 25/07/2021 15:45:50 2363888 Link 0 |
Congratulations Mayo. Great 2nd half. I guess I'll be pulling for Mayo in Football and Waterford in the Hurling. Trump2020 (Galway) - Posts: 2100 - 25/07/2021 15:48:05 2363889 Link 2 |
Now you know what to do to the Dubs at half time next week!

Do you think they didn't know that the game wasn't over? Why do you think they stopped playing? You're right about the talent though.... you seem to know a lot:)

Ah another Donegal man who talks nonsense. Sure you could say the first half was about Mayo being bad. Childish comments. The amount of lads sickened on here because Mayo won't go away is hilarious. Going to be in the top 4 for a few years yet even if they lose to Dublin. Up to other teams to step up.

Well, that was a game of two halves, as the auld cliché goes. Gleebo (Mayo) - Posts: 2208 - 25/07/2021 16:20:26 2363910 Link 0 |
Kildare you mean. Mayo tried that against the Dubs before and it didn't work but sure no harm in trying it again.

Well done to our neighbours, Galway couldn't live with tactical tweaks and intensity in the second half. The early pen set the tone and it was only one team in it from there. ahsure. (Galway) - Posts: 1566 - 25/07/2021 17:00:22 2363927 Link 1 |
Pulling for Waterford in the hurling? Well that's gratitude for you. We welcome you into Leinster to play your hurling, and here's you cheering on a Munster team, a province that won't have you.

I'm presuming it was for striking, given that it was a straight red?

We were not welcome into Leinster, we were begrudgingly allowed into the Leinster championship since it had become a one man show and a total bore for everyone except KK! We're a Connacht county that will always support the underdog - the underdogs left this year are Dublin and Waterford.

What is up with Donegal users on Hoganstand at the moment? sticking out like sore thumbs and really letting themselves down. Now tbf its probably a select few that are constantly at it. Unable to give other teams praise, Big themselves up mightily as if they have been any ways relevant come the business end of the championship since 2014, Seriously begrudge all the culchie teams. nicko94 (Mayo) - Posts: 68 - 25/07/2021 17:58:40 2363958 Link 1 |
That was a legitimate goal in my eyes. He didn't push him, he stood his ground essentially and checked him with his hip. It was naive by the defender who was caught on the wrong side and good play by the forward.
