Why Do Kerry "Supporters" Not Go To Support There Team In Croke Park?

And then you'll have families on days out and the band wagoners. Kerry is a tourist and farming county so lots of the young people would be working in bars hotels at weekends, depending on what kinda farming you're doing can make it more difficult also. Not every1 in Kerry is a gaelic football fan, there are a lot of parishes in North Kerry that are hurling only and we'd often see during double headers in Austin Stack Park in Tralee that when the hurling match finish nearly all the hurling supporters get up and leave the stadium they won't watch the footballers. A lot of the older generation would be staunch club supporters and will only follow their clubs and would only go to watch Kerry if 1 of their players were called up to the senior panel. The distance is massive if you're travelling from South Kerry the halfway point in the journey is Adare in county limerick that's 10 miles at the Kerry side of limerick city, if you've ever been to South or West Kerry you'll know the roads aren't and with the gaa putting some games on at 4,5,6,and 7 o'clock in the evening doesn't help either. Kilkenny who are the most successful hurling team in country don't really travel to games bar the final either and they haven't half the journey. I know that's a lot of excuses but it's life down here." That's it I wouldn't be a big fan of the small ball but if it was on before a football match I'd watch it, to be honest I can't ever see the ball during a hurling match and really I just watch where the players are bunching and hope that's where the ball is, but it's a good game to watch on telly. This is essentially it in a nutshell bdbuddah I don't live in Kerry any more, I am much closer to Croke Park and can make games easily, but if I lived in South or West Kerry it would be a completely different story. It really is a grind to get up to a game and back down home the same day. Success definitely does breed some complacency as well, but I think the distance and travel times is the main factor. They didn't go to Croker this year so far, becoz none of their games were played there. It would be kind of silly of the Kerry crowd to go, so. They'll be going from now on though, as they're in the semifinal and that's chalked down for CP.
