Any news on whether Meath Gaa are going to adopt the old format of u18 or stick with u17.

Assume it would have to go to a vote of delegates.

I imagine it will be U17 this year, as that is what clubs are training for. Last years minors (u17s) are already playing at adult level.

I see Tyrone have agreed to push it back to u18, right decision in my opinion give lads an extra year to develop physically and mentally before taking the step to adult football

Best of luck to the Meath minors against Kildare in the Leinster semi final this evening. The team has responded well after losing to Dublin. Hopefully they can put in a big performance this evening

Disappointing defeat for the minors, they preformed admirably and just a little bit more composure on front of the posts and they would have won it. A couple of big decisions went against them in the last 10 minutes which also had an impact on the result. Well done to the management team as they clearly put in a lot of effort with this squad, unfortunately they just fell short.

There is a lot of quality players among the group with at at least 3 or 4 who look fit to step up to U-20 level next year. The big thing now is that everyone single one of these lads continues on the correct pathway to give them the opportunity to become an U-20 and senior inter-county footballer and hopefully in 3 years time we will be able to turn the table on Dublin and Kildare at U-20 level, like they have been doing to us for years. Continuity of strength and conditioning over the next 3 years is critical.

On a different note it is a a concern that neither NOM or Simonstown have contributed much to county underage teams in recent years, there used to always be 2 or 3 players from these clubs on county underage panels. Has underage football football fallen back that far in both of these clubs or have other sports taken over in the area? Someone mentioned to me recently that not a single member of the St. Pats senior team this year came from NOM or Simonstown. NOM are not intermediate and Simonstown appear to be on the slide in the last couple of years so a lack of underage talent coming through has to be of major concern. The last time (early 2000's) that NOM were intermediate they have a wealth of underage talent coming through, but that does not appear to be the case this time around.
