I watched the highlights of the soccer final and while many are raving about it... that first point from Dunloy excells any of the scores taken in the soccer final. For that Dunloy chap to pick out the runner with that cross field pass and for the runner to trap it on his hurl while running at pace and strike it over the bar... very hard to beat that score especially when you think that but was his first touch.
I will say that the Dunloy goal was the score.of the day however. Terrific catch, great run and pass and super finish. Majestic.. and all from the Antrim team, not usually associated wuth the finer skills !"

Chief among those contests were Na Piarsaigh v Ballygunner and Kilmacud Crokes v Ballyhale Shamrocks. Both of those games were matched by yesterday's game with Ballyhale overcoming Ballygunner in a massive contest.
Dunloy's performance was exceptional too.
Since 1972 when Roscrea won the inaugural club hurling final we have been treated to fantastic games where the pride of one's county attempts to be the best in one's province and ultimately hopes to get to Croke Park on All Irl Club Final day.

For those who follow hurling we absolutely love the contest between these tests but also love the skill that we are privileged to witness .
Of course full time players who play Soccer and reach the World Cup also represent their countries and display exceptional ball control and skills and are to be admired.
But for.me - a long time sports fan of.many sports , you just cannot beat hurling. And hurling followers are right to be a little bit snotty about their sport as it is the best field sport in the world.
Fair play to Lionel and Kyrian for demonstrating their skills but fair play also to all 4 teams yesterday representing their clubs and their counties for performing so well and displaying the great skils of our game.
Aren't we lucky to have the final to look forward to also... Dunloy against Ballyhale.
