I dont believe that's the way Egan will have us playing come championship. Next weekend will tell us more I think.

That doesn't make any sense, whats he doing at the moment then, just telling the lads go out there and play it whatever way you see it? if h is are not trying to impose his own style now then it may be a bit late by the time the championship comes around. The dogs on the street could have told him that putting high ball onto our half forward line without Chin was never going to work. So why do it then?

Unbelievably poor the worst performance since before Davy's time - reminded me a lot of the performance against Dublin in a Walsh cup final in croker around 2016. I accept its only January and the Dubs were way ahead of us in terms of fitness and sharpness which is not necessarily a problem but we had no shape - the players were like rabbits in headlights and didn't appear to have any idea what they were supposed to be doing. Most teams now play with some form of sweeper and the few teams which don't claim to in effect have a sweeper if they are playing a team which has one. In future that's the way all matches will be played. Last night brought back memories of our years with Joachim and Cormac. If we perform like this next week it will be even more embarrassing - it will be like about six years ago when we went to Nowlan Park expecting to beat Kilkenny in the championship and they hammered us out the gate pulling up by 24 points. That day Kilkenny pulled everyone out from the forward area and got 2 on 2 and even 1 on 1 and we were roasted. I really cant answer that Zinny. He would know 1st hand from the last 15 minutes of the 2019 AISF that that gameplan really doesnt suit the players we have. So either he is incredibly tactically naive which I very much doubt or he had his own reasons for setting the team up the way he did all through the Walsh Cup. It didnt matter against Laois or Kilkenny as they were blooding new players too in a largely orthodox 15 on 15 except the last 20 minutes of the Kilkenny game when Cody went for a more modern shorter style of play. When we came up against a team well set up tactically and on top of their game in Dublin it showed why noone plays a traditional 15 on 15 anymore. He said after the game that the players failed to transition during the game but that doesn't explain the lack of intensity and pressing up on their short puckouts. I'd say he wanted to see which players could think on their own and win their own ball one on one and beat their man to take their own score. This would then decide who would be in his panel of 32 for the League where the serious tactical work would start. That is just a pure guess but the way Dublin are playing at the minute he wouldve known they would be a good test for our lads individually and collectively.

Dont think theres any point crying after losing a Walsh Cup final any more than there was celebrating wildly after winning the ones we won in the last few years. If we play like that in the Leinster round Robin I will go halves with you on a box of Kleenex but I very much doubt that we will!

Good to know that you should forcefully will yourself to liking a sport you get bored watching otherwise you can't be a Wexford GAA fan. Or are you upset because I didn't add a qualifier Wexford "hurling" fan.
