Going off on a tangent. When Kilkenny lost to Tipp in the 2010 All-Ireland, it ended a run of 21 Championship games undefeated (no draws), which started with win against Westmeath in 2006. Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2460 - 01/09/2021 13:58:16 2377005 Link 1 |
good tangent but would Tipp's 2010 run be impressive? Lost to Cork in Munster Beat Wexford in qualifiers Beat Offaly in qualifiers Beat Galway in all Ireland quarter final Beat Waterford in all Ireland semi final Beat Kilkenny in all Ireland final slayer (Limerick) - Posts: 6480 - 01/09/2021 15:12:05 2377033 Link 1 |
Yes impressive, but I think Tipp's 2019 run was probably more impressive as they played more games, albeit this was down to the 5 team round-robin series of the provincial championships. Munster Championship Beat Cork Beat Waterford Beat Clare Beat Limerick Munster Final Lost to Limerick All-Ireland Championship Beat Laois QF Beat Wexford SF Beat Kilkenny Final Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2460 - 01/09/2021 15:31:12 2377038 Link 1 |
Cheers Viking. We are still celebrating it in the Wee County.

Just throwing it out there, would also be great to hear tales of club AI victories via tough routes! Onion_Sack (Dublin) - Posts: 203 - 01/09/2021 19:21:01 2377102 Link 0 |
What about St Vincent's in 2008? They are the only club to beat Nemo and Crossmaglen in the same year to win it. They also knocked out Portlaoise in Leinster.

Great achievement when you consider how many all Ireland club titles those clubs have won in the not so distant past.
