Replying To Oldtourman:  "2018 was not either. Limerick beat Cork, Tipp and Kilkenny and then dethroned the All Ireland Champions."
And still won after hitting 20 wides in the final

Replying To Marooning:  "Had to be Limerick yesterday and especially in the first half. Result was never in doubt and some scoreline. A record number of scores I am told and a record number of All Stars on the way to Shannonside. There is nobody around capable of stopping that three in a row next summer."
Ah stop. Limerick were a force of nature, but how much of that was down to the fact that their opposition on the day weren't exactly amazing and allowed Limerick all the space they needed to play showcase hurling?

But I don't want to take away from their well earned win and plaudits, so that's all I'm going to say.

Replying To Cockney_Cat:  "Another one of these Greatest ever nonsense topics.

For the record, Kilkenny thrashed Waterford in the 2008 All-Ireland final, 3-30 to 1-13. They were leading 2-15 to 0-5 at half-time. It was the third, of there four in a row sequence."
If it were Kilkenny you would be heaping praise on them. ard to accept that the cats have stopped purring. Understood Had e cats. But then again,we are all entitled to OUR fvoroites. Grief is in order in the meantime.

PS long live the water breaks

Replying To slayer:  "I don't mind if 2008 was perceived as better. The main thing is our lads reached their peak and won the Liam MacCarthy Cup. I'm a huge admirer of Kilkenny hurling and their outstanding achievements. The absolute kingpins of hurling to date. For Limerick we just need to enjoy now. These are days we never thought we'd see.

One thing I will say is that it would be a dream to see this Limerick team play Kilkenny in an all Ireland final. Perhaps it is because we played Cork & Tipp a lot in Munster, but Kilkenny always seemed to be a step up where you'd have to have everything right to beat them. Kiely v Cody in championship is 2-1 Cody so it would be nice to pit our wits against them once more."
Agreed,I was hoping to get KK in the final also with the aim of settling some "old sores" ...pun intended.
Pity is KK probably won't make it to the final next year. Would not be surprised to see Cody and half the current team depart the county scene.

Winds of change indeed blowing ..

It's up there with the greatest of displays and Limerick with the great teams. It is impossible to compare different eras. I am sure Limerick don't give a damn about this comparison and won't even if they win another three.

Replying To ballydalane:  "Yes, that Waterford team had Ken McGrath, John Mullane, Tony Browne, Kevin Moran, Eoin Kelly, Dan Shanahan, Brick Walsh, Stephen Molumphy, the Prendergast brothers etc. An accomplished experienced team albeit a lot of them a few years past their peak. That young Cork team just weren't ready for the final yesterday."
Were they as young as Limerick in 18? . Jack O'Connor, Luke Meade, Pat Horgan, Allan and Cadogan, Patrick Collins 25, Seamus Harnedy, Darragh Fitzgibbon, Mark Coleman, Sean O'Donoghue, Shane Kingston, Tim O'Mahoney and Damien Cahalane were all involved in 2018.

Spot on Canuck. We could not give two fling ones what other people think. We just feel privilaged to have lived to see a team like this after all the decades of disappointment.
