Awful pity.

Any chance mayo had of winning sam has probably gone. Their only truly outstanding scoring forward.

Terrible loss. He was a figure of fear for us Dubs. Championship won't be the same without him.

Championship will be a poorer place without him, one of the premium player sin the game.

Best wishes to him in his recovery and if nothing else hope enjoys other things in life in between in this less than ideal break, he's on the road with Mayo a long time and shown huge commitment year after year, to only be admired.

A fatal blow to any glimmer of a chance we had this year. All the best to Cillian in his recovery.

Probably edges the odds in Connacht in Galway's favour, Cillian has come back from injury before, wishing him a speedy recovery.

Cillian ain't the most cheerful of chaps, but he was an inch or two away from legendary status on a couple of occasions.
Top class player, very unlucky and will be sorely missed. I wish him a full recovery.

My first reaction on reading the title of the thread was, janey mac! The things those teachers get up to on their holliers, maybe it's just a case of Pride coming before The Fall! ;-)

He quit teaching a couple of years ago. Best of luck to him on his latest venture in recruitment.

A massive loss for Mayo. In addition to his excellence from placed balls he was also our main man from play last term.

The silver lining in this is that it gives us a chance to develop another free-taker (something we've struggled with in the past), as Cillian is 30 now and won't be around forever.

I personally view this season as a transitional one in which the main objective (getting back into division one) has already been achieved. Clarke and Barrett are two huge losses at the core of our defence who cannot be replaced overnight, and it's already obvious from the scores conceded in the league games that this is a long-term project defensively.

Hopefully we give a good account of ourselves in the Connacht final and see where we go from there.
