He was a sub on the football team but is not credited with winning a double. Nowadays players are credited with medals from the subs bench. That time you could ve a sub but might not get an all ireland medal as only 21 medals or thereabouts were given out.

In 1955 two twin Brothers from Feoghanagh came on to the Limerick team; they were Jack and Jim Quaid. They were joined on the county side about two years later by their clubmate and first cousin Seamus Quaid. Seamus was posted to Wexford a few years later and joined the yellow bellies and won an All Ireland with them in 1960. He returned to play with Limerick from about '65 to '69, while the twins played on until about '64 with the county.
In '76 Tommy Quaid, RIP, a son of Jack took over the goalkeeping position and remained there until '93 and was replaced the following by Jim's son, Joe, (his first cousin) who played in goal until 2000. It was a great shame he was not there in 2001 as we might have got over the line that year if we had him.
Nicky is a son of Tommy

Sadly, I read this morning of the death of Jack Quaid, RIP, Am I right in thinking that he was left half back on the Limerick team for the 1955 Munster final? I'm not old enough to have seen him play but I was a GAA scrapbook fanatic from a very young age. I did see Seamus play for Wexford in the 1960 All-Ireland win over Tipperary - at left half forward, if memory serves me right. Tragically, about 20 years later, he was killed by the IRA in the line of his duty as a Detective Garda .

When John Troy was selected at No. 11 on the hurling team in 1999, Offaly became the first county to have a player selected in each position on both football and hurling All Star teams.
Galway joined them in 2005 when Damien Hayes was chosen at No. 15.
Cork have never had a footballer selected at No. 12 or No. 15. They have a full set in hurling.
Please correct me if I am wrong; it wouldn't be the first time.

It is a change of times that all three Waterford all-stars and young player nominee are from the west. Some what to the demise of football. When Waterford were in the football 1st division and in my opinion a real force the team was from the west as mostly today. It is a struggle for a west team to win the hurling because the top players are spread out over more clubs, junior and intermediate as well as senior.
