I remember well but Sown got two all stars in the forwards I think. Greg Blaney definately got one.My point was Cork are the only team ever to win an all ireland to my knowledge that got no forward selected on the all stars.

And many would say that John Galvin was by far and away the best midfielder in Ireland that year and the GPA recognised that when they selected him on their team. As I have often said before the fact that the finalists must get a certain number of players on a team makes the All Stars system of selection a pure joke.

Its mental Kevin McLoughlin doesnt have one, i would argue he has been Mayos most influential player (after Keegan) in the past decade, always shows up whatever the opposition.
Having a profile and name recognition definitely helps, Aidan o'shea has 4 all stars despite never doing the business in the big games, seems crazy that he has 4 while McLoughlin has zero.

Brian McGuigan in 05 in a good shout, he was one of the all time great playmakers at the peak of his powers, i assumed he won one that year until a previous poster pointed out he didnt

More recently, Stephen O'Brien was absolutely robbed last year.
Cian Mackey should have got one for cavan in 2013.

Also, i think John smalls inevitable allstar this year is long overdue, he has been dublins best out and out defender for a few years now.

I think most would agree with that Oldtourman. Galvin should ve won an all star in 2010 in particular and for a decade was in the top 3 or 4 midfielders in the country. The all stars originally were suppose to select the best players over the 12 month period league and championship but now its based mainly in semis and finals.

Kev Mc 2016.

Going into the final replay he was in the mix for FOTY.. And if we had of won the first final which ended in a draw, i reckon he would have at least been shortlisted for FOTY. He was brilliant all year and was my player of the year going into the replay.

Had a quiet game in the replay and ended up not even getting an all star.

Its a fine line...

Yes very like Stephen ó Brien of Kerry in 2019 who was bookies favourite for poty before final but did nt get an all star after all. Kevin NAC unlucky no doubt. His story will be kind to him though.

John Heslin from Westmeath. A footballer who I admire greatly and one who had many a great battle down through the years with Paddy Keenan.
