Why Aren't The Ladies Playing An All Ireland Final In Croke Park.

Two queries. If the recent ladies semi final was fixed for Limerick, it should have been played there. Could Limerick hurlers have trained at another ground, or had their session on Saturday.? This was a semi final, an important game for both teams. Alternatively why not fix the game for Ennis, it would make more sense than travelling across the country in wintertime. The fixing for Limerick was conditional on Limerick hurlers not reaching the All Ireland Final. The LGFA should have rejected that limited offer. It would not happen with a men's semi final. Replying To befair: "Did the GAA president say that?" Yes. The Lgfa president Marie Hickey said the girls spent too long in dressing. The organisation of a team to get timing right before a game takes a lot of consideration. You don't want the team to arrive too early or theirs because complacency could set in. Ideally a team needs 15 to 20 minutes to tog, physio etc. Any country team would need up to 30 minutes for warmup, tactics etc. The Galway team after been told of change of venue arrived at Croke Park at 12.40. The management of both teams said yes to change as long as they were given the required time for proper warmup. The Galway outfit were told getting of the bus to hurry up and get togged as match is now kicking off at 13.00 Both teams asked for more time for warmup. The referee kept intruding on Galway girls during warmup, saying to hurry up. Talking to one of the players yesterday and she said their hands were frozen at throw in as they hadn't done sufficient warmup. The Galway girls wanted management to walk off the pitch and he came out after match saying he was sorry he didn't. For a LGFA official to come on radio after match and say :girls spent too long in dressing room: speaks for itself. The match should NOT have been considered for Croke park with such a short time frame for warmup etc. Just to say Cork were by far the better team and looked very very impressive the last day and I wish them all the best in final. I can't speak for other counties but watching the fixtures for ladies football and camogie in Carlow, it's quite rare that they get to play any matches in the county pitch in Netwatch Cullen Park. The camogie and ladies finals this year were not in the county grounds... where they should be played if ladies finals are to be respected and the ladies games are to develop further. I am sure the same situation is prevalent in many other counties. There is only one solution ...so that the Galway and Cork ladies and all other ladies teams in the future dont suffer the ignominy of what happend last Sunday and that is for all 3 associations to become one.
