Fermanagh manager Ryan McMenamin says he’s disappointed with the decision to let his side’s Allianz Football League clash against Clare next Sunday week go ahead.

A recent spike in Covid-19 cases has saw the Fermanagh county board call a halt to all GAA activity within the county this week and has led for a request for the Division 2 encounter in Ennis to be postponed.

Last night the GAA confirmed that all games will go ahead as scheduled in the coming weeks and, speaking to the Impartial Reporter, McMenamin has described his disappointment in the decision that will see his side travel to Cusack Park the weekend after next.

“It is disappointing, but it was expected.  I think if this was a Dublin, a Tyrone or an Armagh that this would have been called off, but I think that because it was Fermanagh it is a different decision,” said the three-time All-Ireland winner.

The Erne County boss also added that he is unsure whether or not the squad will travel down to Clare and fulfil the fixture, with is his team currently sitting bottom of Division 2 with two games remaining.

“There is no decision taken yet but we are going to find it hard to get players to go down to Clare. We will have to see how many we have at training,” he added.

“We will sit down and think about things and I’ll have to think myself about this here. You knew it was going to come but you are still disappointed with the GAA, they have been putting out the message that we are in this together.”
