St Eunan’s chairman John Haran is hoping history will repeat itself this weekend.
The Letterkenny club captured their first Donegal SHC title in 49 years when upsetting the odds against Setanta last weekend and this Sunday it will be the turn of their footballers who will be up against holders Naomh Conaill in the football equivalent.
“We also did the double the last time the hurlers won it in 1972,” former long-serving player Haran pointed out in an interview with GAA.ie.
“It would be absolutely brilliant if we could do the same 49 years later this Sunday, but the footballers are going to be up against it against a Naomh Conaill team going for three-in-a-row.
“They're a very experienced outfit whereas this is a somewhat new team for us coming through. The last time we were in the final was 2015 so this is going to be the first final for a good number of our players.
“Five or six of our players have played in four or five finals so I suppose we have a good mixture of youth and experience.”
