Conor Glass made his senior debut for Derry this evening as they defeated Longford on their return to Allianz Football League action.

Having recently retired from the AFL after five years Down Under, Glass came off the bench in the 55th minute of the Oak Leafers’ 2-14 to 0-12 win at Celtic Park.

There had been speculation whether or not manager Rory Gallagher would call Glass into his panel ahead of this winter’s championship and it is understood that the former Hawthorn player only joined the squad last Wednesday night.

Glass captained Derry to Ulster MFC glory in 2015 before spending the next five years playing Aussie Rules and, after deciding to return home, Oak Leaf fans will no doubt have been delighted to see him featuring for his county today.
