Clare GAA has recorded a surplus of over €1 million for 2024.

The €1,017,827 profit coincided with a very successful year on the field of play for the Banner County who secured an All-Ireland and Allianz Hurling League double. Despite spending €1,566,462 on inter-county team preparations, the surplus was almost four times last year’s figure of €270k.

Commercial income jumped from €740k to €1,030,885, while a house draw brought in a further €743k.

"It seems unlikely that the spend will go in the other direction. At the moment it would only be possible by creating a competitive disadvantage for our county," Clare GAA Head of Operations Deirdre Murphy wrote in her annual report to next week’s convention.

"We want our players and those who have taken on the responsibility of leading them to have the best possible opportunity of success, therefore if you like we must ‘keep up with the Jones’.

"We are lucky that all those who lead our teams are incredibly conscious of cost and not to waste resources yet will expect to be able to prepare their teams as any of the top teams do, and we expect to be able to deliver that for them."
