Route To Winning An All-Ireland - 5 Like(s)
Tyrone played 10 games in 2005 but the most impressive feat was they beat the champions of Leinster, Ulster and Munster between 28 August and 25 September in Croke Park.

Tyrone V Meath Nfl Rd 1. - 4 Like(s)

Replying To royaldunne:  "Have waited many years to return to where we belong. No game in division one is going to be easy, and this one certainly won't be, Meaths primary goal this year is to remain in division one, the objective is made more difficult with only having 3 home games v Galway mayo and donegal. 8 Pts will see us safe even 6 could. While it is only first game of campaign and we have some significant absentees , I feel it is one of the away games we can win. Tight tough encounter Meath by a point. Hon the royal."
Meath have put it up to Tyrone in both league and championship over the last ten years but Tyrone usually come out narrowly in front. For Tyrone to stay in Division 1 that is the result they will need on 26th. Tyrone by 2 points.

Donegal v Galway - 4 Like(s)

Replying To seanie_boy:  "Not sure to be honest because we also put up good performances against Derry and Down in the final whereas this Donegal team see to have gotten poorer as the year has progressed. They look leaderless and without and ideas or will to win. It's very unlike them. Something is not right in that team right now."
I think Tyrone are preparing for football at a different level to the standard seen in Ulster so far. The fall of Donegal has been a big shock and I can only put it down to the manager. I can not believe this would have happened under Jim's management. The one lesson for Tyrone is be careful when calling for change of manager.

All Ireland Final - Who You Shouting For? - 4 Like(s)
Dublin deserve to win 5 in a row, play the game in the right way but that is only due to the amount of outstanding players they have had. I don't think Kerry can put it up to the Dubs as they did in 2013 & 2016.

The GAA And "Northern Ireland" - 3 Like(s)
From reading different reports ideas etc on Northern Ireland I do think people are badly out of touch. There is no chance of unionist/loyalists ever wanting to join an United Ireland. That is their choice and no amount of discussions /border poles will change that. The GAA in the north have done an unbelievable job in surviving during the troubles and you would be surprised how much the GAA would be looked down and mistrusted by unionist/loyalists.

Congratulations to Mayo and good luck for the rest of the year. The game could have gone either way but that said Tyrone did defeat Mayo by one point in 2008 and look what happened then. Its been a very good year for Tyrone with promotion and an Ulster Championship but we certainly need a good free taker and sharper forwards to make further progress but all in all plenty to build on.

Tyrone All Ireland Champs 2021 - 2 Like(s)
Great day for Tyrone and I'm glad we won it under the old sudden death rules which we had never done before . On the 30th anniversary of Down's win in 1991 this year was a throw back to that Ulster Championship era when Down, Derry, Armagh and Tyrone all thought they could win the All-Ireland if they could get out of Ulster. Certainly Donegal, Monaghan or Armagh could all easily tip Tyrone out of Ulster next year. I know people made a big deal about Tyrone's loss to Kerry in the league overlooking that once again it is a Division One team wins the championship. Division One next year will be very tough but it is where you must play your football.

Why dont we lend them one of our stadiums so Northern Ireland can host games in Euro 2028. Maybe that would encourage them more.

Sunday Game 2022 Fixtures Announced - 2 Like(s)
Division 1 of the league is extremely competitive and the winners of the All-Ireland usually come from this division. Yet we have what will be a very competitive clash between Donegal and Armagh not covered by RTE. This is so wrong. I think this first round clash will be the outstanding game of the opening rounds.

There is no hiding place in Division 1 and it certainly helps later in the year with the cut and trust of the championship. The more seasons you build up the better. Tyrone face into their fourth season on the trot in Division 1 and it has been a hard slog . Cavan and Roscommon are good examples of teams have both yo-yo'd up and down over the last few years and therefore lost some of the advantages of playing in Division 1. Relegation would look to be two from Meath, Monaghan, Tyrone and Donegal.

This is just silly. The last round of fixtures need to be just that all games playing at the same time after all other fixtures in the Division have been completed.

Ulster dominance? - 2 Like(s)
The Ulster Championship is different. Two draws in the semi-finals shows it competitiveness and next weeks final should be the game of the championship so far. Some Ulster teams find it hard to treat the back door as a way back in and Monaghan were unlucky to be playing for the third week running. It has never been a problem for Tyrone who have a great record in the back door and I feel Cavan may cause some damage in the back door this year. Derry are the third Ulster team to put Meath out in the back door over the past four years.

The rights and wrongs of Galway and Leinster - 2 Like(s)
Hurling people go on about the game etc but over the years they have done very little to help and accommodate in my opinion two strong counties with the potential to be major contenders Galway and Antrim. From the late 1980's on both could have done with help to be amalgamated properly into the championship. Both were isolated outside the main areas and both needed help. I just wish the powers that be would listen to former Antrim great Sambo McNaughton for instance on some of the problems faced by those outside the pale. Galway shold be allowed to play home games in Leinster and play in Minor, U21 etc.

Mayo V Tyrone All-Ireland Football Final - 2 Like(s)
Watched a tribute last night to Mickey Hatre on YouTube and yes l,m biased but I thought it was very good and went through the glory years etc with some good insight. The big thing I took from it was the belief which has passed from Mickey Harte down to the likes of Peter Canavan and more importantly to Brian Dooher. Dooher was a good captain and is definitely a manager you would want to play for. Maybe this was the difference in the two teams last week and may help Tyrone edge it in the final
