Donegal’s Niamh McLaughlin has signed a one-year contract extension with AFLW outfit Gold Coast SUNS.
The 2022 LGFA Player of the Year, who has also represented the Republic of Ireland at U17 and U19 level in soccer and had stints at Newcastle and Sunderland, will be hoping the SUNS have a better season than the one just past when they managed just one win, culminating in the departure of coach Cameron Joyce.
“I’m really excited to be going into my third season now,” the 31-year-old former Donegal captain said.
“This group of players was a massive factor in the decision for me. I’ve always felt so supported here and the staff and the playing group have always made it really easy for me.
“There’s some much talent here at the SUNS and we’re excited about what we can achieve as a group.”
