Ballyhale Shamrocks are through to another All-Ireland club senior hurling championship final after snatching the most dramatic of victories over St Thomas’ this evening.

Kilkenny star TJ Reid broke the Galway champions’ hearts after smashing a 20-yard free into their net in the fourth minute of injury-time at Semple Stadium, handing the Leinster champions the 2-15 to 0-20 win.

Beaten by the same opposition in the 2019 decider, St Thomas looked on the cusp of victory after having built on a 0-13 to 0-11 half-time advantage to lead by four at the second water break.

Conor Cooney and Eanna Burke had been key to keeping the Galway men out in front but the holders got right back into it when Reid hammered home a 55th minute penalty.

Two Cooney frees were the St Thomas’ response and they looked to have held out in injury-time until Reid struck his devastating free at the death to send Ballyhale through to the All-Ireland final against Ballygunner in two weeks’ time.
