Cork attacker Paul Kerrigan has announced his retirement from inter-county football after 13 seasons with the Rebels.

Kerrigan confirmed his decision to The42 this morning, bringing down the curtain on an inter-county career which reaped an All-Ireland SFC victory in 2010 as well as three Munster titles and three National League crowns.

The 33-year-old made his senior inter-county debut in the Leesiders’ 2008 Munster SFC final win against Kerry, with his last game in the red and white also being against the Kingdom as Peter Keane’s men were stunned by their neighbours earlier this month in the provincial semis.

Kerrigan did not make an appearance off the bench in last Sunday’s Munster final loss to Tipperary and his retirement now sees Ciaran Sheehan as the only active Cork player to be involved in the county’s last Sam Maguire Cup success a decade ago.

Having also won an All-Ireland U21 title with his county, Kerrigan has had a tremendous club career with Nemo Rangers as the Cork giants await Castlehaven in the county senior football championship final which is expected to be played next March.
