Celbridge 1-9

Club stalwart Ronan Sweeney has led Moorefield to their seventh Kildare SFC final in eight years following a gutsy two-point victory over Celbridge at St Conleth's Park.

A Tony Archbold goal had put Celbridge into a winning position with eight minutes to go but they failed to build on the momentum as the 'Moores' finished strong by reeling off three points on the spin through Eanna O'Connor, Adam Tyrrell and Mark McDermott to grab the win.

In his first year as manager, Sweeney's side were 0-7 to 0-5 in front at half-time, thanks mainly to the accurate free-taking of centre-forward Tyrrell. They lined out today without Aaron Masterson after the infuential midfielder failed in his bid to overturn the red card he was shown against Johnstownbridge last week.

Holders Sarsfields will meet Athy in the second semi-final at 4.30pm.
