Colin Fennelly will take a 12-month break from intercounty hurling and won’t represent Kilkenny again until 2022.

The Ballyhale Shamrocks clubman captained his county to Leinster honours last year.

An All Star winner in 2014 and 2019, Fennelly lost his place in the team for the All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Waterford.

His club tweeted last night: "The best of luck to Colin Fennelly during his year out."
