Kilkenny hurler killed in car crash to be laid to rest

The funeral takes place today of former Kilkenny hurler James Nolan who lost his life in a car accident last weekend.

The 34-year-old died when his car hit a wall near his home in Dunbell, Co. Kilkenny in the early hours of Friday morning. He played both hurling and football for Clara, with the club noting in a social media post that “his skills and trickery were admired throughout the club and county”.

Heartbreakingly, James’ two older brothers John and Thomas also died in a slurry tank accident a few years ago.

James is survived by his parents Gerry and Brigid, brothers Dermot and Peter, and sisters Margaret, Elaine, Catherine, and Claire. His Funeral Mass will be held at St Colman’s Church, Clara, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
