Cork 2-24

Kerry 2-10

Cork are through to the last four of the Munster U20 hurling championship after progressing past Kerry this evening.

The winners were put to the test all the way through the first half at a rain soaked Austin Stack Park but still looked out of sight by the interval when they led by 0-11 to 0-5. Powered by goals from Brian Roche (1-3) and Brian Hayes (1-2), they produced a strong finish to score 2-7 after the Kingdom raised the first green flag via a long range Michael Slattery free to peg the margin back to seven points (0-17 to 1-7).

It took Slattery just fifteen seconds to register the opening score for Fintan O'Connor's hard working outfit who were making their bow in the premier U20 competition, however, Cork were able to pick off points much more easily. There was a late consolation goal for Nathan Guerin before fellow substitute Hayes struck at the other end to wrap up an easy 14-point win as Pat Ryan's side now turn their attentions to a clash with Limerick at the LIT Gaelic Grounds next Monday evening.
