Uncertainty over inter-county underage games as Galway chairman claims U20 final is off

Galway county board chairman Pat Kearney says this weekend’s All-Ireland U20 football championship final has been called off.
Galway and Dublin are due to contest the decider at Portlaoise on Saturday (throw-in 4pm) after coming through their respective semi-finals this past weekend.
However, Mr Kearney told Galway Bay FM this morning that the game has been called off, along with the county’s Connacht MFC quarter-final against Leitrim on Friday evening.
The Galway chairman is understood to have said that the confirmation came from Croke Park this morning.
There are mixed reports on whether or not the new Level 5 restrictions allow for underage inter-county games to go ahead, with a host of games currently down for decision this coming weekend.
RTÉ Sport reports this morning that GAA officials are “set to discuss the latest developments at a meeting later this morning” and will seek Government clarification on the issue.
