I can't wait till this clash. Going to be a great match. But going for a Galway win here. oakleafersir (Derry) - Posts: 808 - 18/06/2017 16:05:31 2001179 Link 0 |
50/50 game. Galway always hard to judge. We have nothing to fear. I think if we reach top gear we're fully capable of winning it. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 2660 - 18/06/2017 16:39:29 2001202 Link 0 |
70/30 game in Galways favour. I can't see the Wexford fullback line being good enough. Could be 10 points between them. That wouldn't be a fair reflection on where Wexford are or where they have come from but in my opinion they will struggle against Galway. bloodyban (Limerick) - Posts: 1710 - 18/06/2017 18:58:27 2001292 Link 0 |
was reasonably confident of a win but losing conor Mcdonald is a huge loss. perfect10 (Wexford) - Posts: 3929 - 18/06/2017 19:41:09 2001329 Link 0 |

Its a 50/50 match. This is a serious Wexford team with huge momentum. I heard McDonald turned his ankle and should make the final. If not, they'll still be a serious threat. They beat KK comfortably and McDonald was a peripheral figure on the night. Here's hoping for a great game and Galway win. Wexford like to keep it tight could see new tactics by Davy in the wide open spaces. WildPundit (Tipperary) - Posts: 1709 - 18/06/2017 23:41:39 2001506 Link 0 |
Despite Galway scoring over 30 points today, a number of things caught my eye. grellans89 (Galway) - Posts: 257 - 18/06/2017 23:43:17 2001508 Link 0 |
I really hope Galway don't trample Wexford in this one. Galway could dish out some retribution for the spring defeat in Salthill. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 19/06/2017 00:54:22 2001539 Link 0 |
Since 2012 how have Galway been hard to judge?

Really looking forward to this one. There seems to be a bit of a ruthless streak in Galway this year and then you have Lee Chin, a wonderful hurler leading Davy's new look team. Jack Guiney looking more of a team player. There will be a lot of big battles. As mentioned, the full back position might be a small problem for Wexford and if Joe Canning pays a visit to full forward there could be goals there but Davy will surely have an idea on how to stop him. slayer (Limerick) - Posts: 6480 - 19/06/2017 09:23:27 2001601 Link 1 |
I think it will be a tight game game like the one in Salthill but Galways experience should see them over the line. Hopefully there is a change of jerseys, I was in Salthill and it was extremely hard to tell the difference between the 2 sets of jerseys. Biggest game of the year to date. I've a feeling Wexford's style won't suit Galway. Galway thrive on space (most teams do in fairness!) but Wexford will completely swamp the area around Canning which could be a huge factor. I'd expect the likes of Whelan to be a marked man also. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 19/06/2017 15:06:47 2001900 Link 0 |
Galway have been consistently improving the last few years. This thing of what Galway turn up is a myth at this stage. They very much have a settled looking team now. There are a few areas yet I'm not 100% convinced with. One of which is I feel they could add a greater goal scoring threat. Every team that has won the All Ireland this decade has won it by going for goals even when a handy point is on. Galway have the forwards to do it but a bit like Cork I think they could be a bit more ruthless in more of their games. Having said that they are clear favourites at this stage but sport is funny. It's only a few months ago that everyone was saying there wasn't a hope of Tipp being beaten this year and maybe for a few years. Whatever happens, its great to see a bit of excitement back in the hurling championship. (unfortunately this won't continue next year with the shambles that they are bringing in) tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 19/06/2017 15:16:28 2001904 Link 0 |
"This thing of what Galway turn up is a myth at this stage" I really couldn't agree more - I'm not sure if its just stereotyping (and in fairness up to 2011 Galway did prove the stereotype) but since 2012 onward I really think this aul line of 'What Galway will turn up' is just very very lazy journalism - I'd have little time for anyone suggesting this Galway team is inconsistent. I also agree with your points re space given to Canning and Whelan. there will be timber worn across Canning but I actually think Whelan will thrive on a sticky marker, he just loves putting it up to the defender - ya have to love it! I can't wait for this match already. I hope we can at least give Galway a good game! All the pressure is on Galway, we are already in bonus territory having being promoted from 1B and beaten Kilkenny twice while blooding a new team. Teams to wear their alternative jerseys. Galway - white and wexford - gold. Both wearing light coloured Jerseys. IMO it would be better if only one team wore their alternative. liam500 (Wicklow) - Posts: 175 - 19/06/2017 16:34:50 2001954 Link 1 |
